Save and Restore Ormond Beach!

YOU CAN HELP ORMOND BEACH PLEASE SHOW UP AT THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING TUESDAY OCTOBER 11th @ 7:30 pm

“Ormond Beach is considered by wetland experts to be the most important wetland restoration opportunity in southern California. Unlike other coastal wetland restoration projects in southern California, there is room to restore the approximate extent of historic wetlands, provide surrounding upland habitat to complete the ecosystem and accommodate sea level rise. The biological significance of this area has been recognized and its restoration potential endorsed by all of the federal and state resource agencies that participate in the Southern California Wetlands Recovery Project” http://scc.ca.gov/2010/01/07/ormond-beach-wetlands-restoration-project/

Protecting & restoring the Ormond Beach wetlands also will mean JOBS and tourist dollars for Oxnard. The California Coastal Conservancy (our tax dollars) is poised to spend MILLIONS here in Oxnard towards that goal

Changing the 2030 General Plan designation of Ormond Beach to Resource Protection will also protect it from potential future industrial abuse. (For example, the City of Oxnard, may have to permit a third power plant to be built on our beach because of historic lack of vision, bad planning, and wrong decisions.)

Ormond Beach belongs to the people of Oxnard. The City government and the residents must be responsible stewards now and for the future.

Here's what YOU can do:

  • Come to Oxnard City Council Chambers on October 11 at 7:30 p.m. @ 300 W. 3rd Street
  • Tell City Council members that Ormond Beach Wetlands belongs to all of us and its restoration and protection will bring clean and good jobs and tourist dollars to Oxnard.
  • Tell City Council members to make the following changes to the 2030 General Plan land use map to support the Coastal Conservancy's restoration plan: change the Gateway Park area, the GenOn power plant, and the area south of Hueneme Road between Edison and Arnold Roads to "resource protection".
  • Tell City Council members that if they do not do the right thing, you will not support them at their next elections.
  • Tell Council members that the future of Oxnard rests on their shoulders and it is time for the Council to act with vision, courage & leadership. Pass this on to your family and friends.

It's important - Please do it now!
Contact your Oxnard City Council members and let them know what you think:
